The patriarch of the Rockefeller family and the last living member of his generation, David Rockefeller died in his sleep due to congestive heart failure. The death was announced by his spokesman, Fraser P. Seitel.
Grandson of John D. Rockefeller, the Standard Oil co-founder and the youngest child of John D. Rockefeller Jr, a financier, and Abigail Greene, a socialite, David grew up in a lavish 8-story house.
The house was equipped with the finest luxuries and rare pieces of art, including various Renaissance treasures.
David went to Lincoln School, graduated from the Harvard University and then went to the London school of Economics. It was there that he met John F. Kennedy and also once dated his sister Kathleen. He received a PhD. from the University of Chicago.
