It’s been 20 years since the brutal murder of JonBenet Ramsey, the 6-year-old child beauty pageant contestant who was found in the basement of her family home, left beaten and strangled after being sexually assaulted. A bizarre ransom note was also found by her mother asking for money. Yet again the murder and the family have been brought back to the spotlight after previously being major suspects in the investigation.  But the identity of the murderer still remains a mystery .

The family had just reached home from a Christmas dinner and John (Ramsey’s father) carried JonBenet upstairs to bed while Patsy (her mother) served nine-year-old Burke (her brother) some pineapple in the kitchen downstairs.

But JonBenet, instead of sleeping went downstairs and tried to share Burke’s food after which Burke hit his sister on the head with the nearest thing, a flashlight, he could find.  What the investigators did stress is that her death wasn’t intentional, but rather a tragic accident.

Her body was found by her father. She had duct tape over her mouth, was covered by a blanket and a cord twisted around her neck. She had also suffered a skull fracture.

Since there were no signs of a break in, initially the suspicion fell on her family also because there were suspicions that Patsey Ramsey had written the ransom letter.

In an interview with CNN, the parents of JonBenet insisted they had absolutely nothing to do with the murder of their only daughter and described the speculation as “nauseating beyond belief”.

They were the prime suspects including their son until 2008, until they were officially cleared of any involvement.

Now at the 20th anniversary of the murder, new documentaries aired this month showing the details of what had happened that day. The documentary titled ‘The Case Of: JonBenet Ramsey’ try to unveil the mystery behind the murder. The documentary team consists of world class forensic experts and investigators.

Recently, an unheard call from 911 was discovered and investigators have scrutinized six seconds of audio captured by the 911 dispatcher just after the mother thought the call had ended.

Until now audio captured has been unintelligible incoherent. But linguistic experts and top-level investigators like former FBI agent Jim Clemente, who is the brainchild of JonBenet’s murder investigation and former New Scotland Yard behavioral expert, Laura Richards were able to enhance and decode it.

Ms Ramsey voice can be heard saying, “We’re not speaking to you”, and then asks, “What did you do? Help me, Jesus”. The ransom letter was also reanalyzed and the possible involvement of Burke.

Burke Ramsey appeared on Dr. Phil’s show last week and some viewers felt he acted strange and his body language was troublesome.

“The first thing I remember is my mum bursting into my room really frantic, saying like ‘Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh’ running around my room looking for JonBenet,” he told Dr. Phil.

“At that point I was awake and the next thing I remember is a police officer coming into my room and shining a flashlight.” In the final installment of the documentary series, the investigators revealed they believe JonBenet’s brother Burke is the killer.

JonBenét: The documentary’s third episode will air on 26th September on Investigation Discovery UK at 10 pm.
