On Monday morning, around 10 am, a five-year-old girl was found abandoned inside the Port Authority Bus Terminal. An officer found the girl exhausted, crying and having nowhere to go. Upon inquiry, she gave the officer her home address in Stamford, Connecticut about 40 miles northeast.
Unfortunately, the girl’s 30-year-old mother was found dead inside a third-floor apartment. The cause of death hasn’t been revealed but the police are suspecting it to be a case of homicide. Sources say that there were signs of struggle.
“To have lost a mother like that, it’s a very big tragedy for her,” Tom Barcello of the Stamford Police Department said.

The girl only speaks Spanish, and she told the police she was left at the Bus Terminal by her father. The girl was however found in a good condition, unharmed. It is still not clear whether the girl had witnessed her mother’s murder or not. She is in custody of children’s services in New York City.
According to the police, the girl and her mother had recently moved to the Stamford apartment from Flemington, New Jersey, over the weekend. Further reports also revealed that the parents had just separated.
