This Pregnant Mom Multi-tasks And Makes Us Feel Indolent

We live in a time where women are trying to prove that they have everything one needs to achieve anything they want. They are fighting against prevalent misogyny and patriarchy in our society. All the while proving their worth.

This woman quintessentially demonstrated that, by multitasking whilst pregnancy.

Dr. Megan Meier is a dance and sports medicine physician. She garnered attention all over the internet with her picture, being visibly pregnant and attending a football player, a member of the Putnam City North High School team, all the while carrying her kid on her back.

With the caption:

“Hello! I am Dr. Megan Meier. I am a sports medicine and dance medicine physician in Oklahoma City, OK. A photo of me providing sideline coverage for my high school football team, Putnam City North, recently went viral! I want to thank all of you who have taken an interest in me and more importantly, in this photo.

I captioned the photo “Sports Medicine Doctor Mom–this is what happens when you are 35 weeks pregnant, husband leaves town for the weekend, childcare for 3yo falls through, and you have a game to cover!”

I posted this to a group of physician mom’s because I thought they would enjoy it–seeing a visual representation of what we all do each and every day. I am overwhelmed by all the positive feedback and support the members of this group have given. I really believe that you can have it all and find a great balance to a multi-faceted career and life. However, it takes a lot of hard work and improvisation at times.

Most importantly, it takes a strong community of people supporting each other to make it work. Thank you to “Physician Mom Group (PMG) for “getting it.” Thank you to all my family, friends, and colleagues for all the love and shares. Thank you to the teams (that includes athletic trainers, coaches, players, and parents) that I cover, from PC North High School to the University of Oklahoma to the OKC Ballet–I appreciate your support of women (and their families) in medicine and in sports. We have come a long way in 2016. “

The viral photo made its way to Dr. Robin Schoenthaler’s notice. The doctor developed an instant liking for the picture and shared it on her own Facebook page. The picture’s caption said, “I am so thrilled so many of these kick-ass women have joined the (medical) field.”  The picture there received a tremendous response.

The superwoman, Dr. Meier, acknowledged the overwhelming appreciation and love from everyone in a Facebook post, “I really believe that you can have it all and find a great balance to a multi-faceted career and life.” She also added, “However, it takes a lot of hard work and improvisation at times.”

Power to you woman! Women all around the world are so proud of you.
